Travel Journeys

I think back to all of the wonderful places I have been fortunate to have visited in my travels.  The ones that pop out at me are the times in historic landmarks such as cathedrals and churches with stories and history behind them- I remember putting my ear on the wall of St. Paul's Cathedral in London trying to hear it whisper.  Or climbing a never ending spiral staircase to the top of a castle in Scotland and feeling the cool breeze as I looked out of the stone tower at the miles and miles of rolling green landscape below me. The wonder and excitement of seeing St. Peters Square in the Vatican.  The mosaic tiles so tiny you would have had to use a magnifying glass and tweezers to set them and yet the "painting" on the wall as you step back was so lifelike and massive it took my breath away.  Touching the stone that was carved by the master - Michelangelo. The overwhelming feeling as I walked through the stone slaves emerging from the rock carved by Michelangelo and seeing my friend weep as she saw David for the first time in Florence.  The squares or piazzas buzzing about with locals and tourists mingling together as if it were a well choreographed dance.   This is why I travel.  The amazing feelings you get as the things you've read or learned about in history are right there in front of you.  You can touch, taste smell and hear what your eyes can only see in books or movies.    Travel is truly an adventure for all.  -
