Hi from Sue and Jamey -
We just returned last night 11/24/2010 from a pre inaugural cruise on the
most AMAZING ship I have ever sailed on.
I have been on 20 cruises now and this is by far the most
amazing ship.
Royal Caribbean’s - The Allure of the Seas.
I say everyone has to experience this at least once in their
lifetime.
This ship is the future of things to come.
This is an adventure in itself and a seamless operation.
The staff was so fantastic, always friendly and waiting to serve
at all times. With 5400 passengers checking in the pier was ready and
waiting with smiles and extreme organization.
Food was above and beyond any cruise – The buffet food was
always hot and extremely tasty with a wide variety of
choices. The elegant main dining room wait staff were a
delight – food had choices like rack of lamb, pastas, fish and seafood or filet
mignon, which was to die for in flavor and presentation.
They are there to make sure the meals are as memorable as the
entire ship.
The entertainment aboard is a book in itself. Let me first
start with your initial reaction as you board the ship – you walk onto the most
elegant and modern plaza in at sea. Pictures will never do this
justice. The space and architectural design will amaze
you. The stone and glass and open air surround you the moment you
board the Allure. Look up to the sky and see the modern glass curved
balconies lining the interior. The fountains and Rising Tides bar
which rises up like a space ship from ground up 3 levels as the patrons wines
and spirits are literally lifted up 3 decks. Designer shops and
cafes line the boardwalk with Cupcake shops, nightclubs, bars, boutique
clothing stores, teddy bear stores to casinos with grand spiral stair case down
to the secluded and well designed casino. Walk further to the aft (back)
of the ship and you discover more and more amazing architectural feats for a
cruise. Past the pizza place and the hot dog stand, and Johnny Rockets
diner you find 3 massive blocks of wood and carving tools showing the steps it
took to make this hand carved carousal. You see the horse emerge from the
block of wood and into a work of art. We saw Katie Holmes and her
daughter taking a ride on this carrousel at sea. As if we
haven’t completely been in awe - We continued ever further and make our
way to the back of the ship where the incredible Aqua Theatre sits with two
huge screens that were showing the Steelers game – of course it was Sunday and
where else but the Allure can you watch a football game outside in stadium
seating with the most amazing screens I have ever
experienced. Just underneath Royal Caribbean’s Anchor is the
stage and 19 foot deep pool. We watch as the acrobats use their
elegant muscular bodies to create a work of art on stage diving and rolling and
flying into the water below.
Dreamworks theme with Shrek and the penguins from Madagascar are
always in sight– With a fun parade and exciting entertainment. It was
like being in Time Square for the Macy’s day parade. Evenings are
exciting with ice shows and the Broadway hit Chicago, casinos, comedy clubs,
jazz clubs. Everything you could imagine doing in a big city – it’s here.
This ship just doesn’t quit. The pool areas are also
amazing with a colorful playful water park area for the kids, a round – and
round pool where I saw Adam Sandler and his daughter swimming and said
hi. (name dropping again, but hey it’s not every day that you cruise with
stars). The sport pools and the round hot tubs within easy access to the
many pool bars. Above that you’ll find decks with an elegant putt
golf course where I didn’t see Happy Gilmore unfortunately, full size
basketball courts, and the Flow Rider where you can pretend you know how to
surf as the fans cheer for you to fall up the waterfall. And new
for any cruise ship is the Zip line – start from the top by the Flow Rider and
zip down across the boardwalk 16 stories below. After all the
excitement relax in the wonderful Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center –
state of the art fitness equipment and spa services.
The elegant glass elevators with artistic design whisk you up 16
floors. One design in the elevator was glass beaded dresses suspended in
mid-air which transformed each evening with lights. Again – amazing,
elegant and beautiful. The elevators were always
available and fast.
Getting around this ship was a breeze. Royal Caribbean has
really nailed this down. Each floor is centered around the main atrium
which has the Central park in front and boardwalk area in the
aft. There are touch screens on each floor that show you
where you are and just type in where you want to go or your room number and it
maps it out for you. Find out what’s going on all day with events and
shows and hours. This is the best way to get around a ship of this
size. Thank you Royal Caribbean! I can get lost in a hotel
and I was able to navigate around this ship from the first day.
The staterooms – we were lucky enough to have been put in an
ocean view stateroom with a balcony. On Deck 12 – 12170.
Subtle warm light wood and cool colors with teals, blues and chrome
fixtures and frames made me want to go home and change my bedroom scheme
again. The bed was amazing with the pillow top that felt as if it was
wrapping its arms around you. Aaaaah! The deck
and balcony were spacious and the arched windows and sliding glass doors
brought the sunrise and ocean inside our stateroom. Ours was
about 2 times the size of an average Ocean view with Balcony as it was a
handicap accessible stateroom. Well appointed with a huge shower and
bathroom. Closets designed for easy access. Plenty of
storage space and a double i-pod docking station.
(set up
for a family of 4)
Staterooms aboard this ship are very exciting – From Crown Loft
suites with 2 floors of windows and a glass loft with bedroom above overlooking
the ocean to the Aqua there suites which are like apartments with 3 bedrooms
and large living and entertainment area inside as well as a wrap around deck
which overlooks the Aqua theatre on one side and the ocean on the other.
There are only about 8 of these suites and they sell out way in
advance. Where ever you are on this ship you feel like
Royalty. The staff is so proud to be on this ship and greet each
and every passenger with smiles and want to make this the most memorable
experience of a lifetime.
I didn’t mean to go into such detail but I am so excited about
this ship and if you are even considering a cruise this is THE cruise to go
on.
(note: they were filming a movie called Jack and Jill while I
was on board starring Adam Sandler, Katie Holmes and Al Pacino – there I go
name dropping again lol! :)
